Reality: The Game! (by Greg)
Created on Strip Generator, filmed on Handicam, aired every week at 9pm/8pm Central on VH1!
So remember when I said I was gonna start posting more and putting comics up on a regular weekly basis? TOTALLY mean it this time. I have an excuse, but excuses are for wankstas, and when I go to the dealership best believe I’m gon’ cop sumtin’. I assure my “non-urban” friends that was not gibberish.
Anyway, to the point of this here comic. I was strolling on my merry way through Kotaku a week or so ago when what did i see? A video game based on one of my favorite TV shows, and one of the very few “reality” shows I can stand, Hell’s Kitchen. That’s right, Hell’s Kitchen: The Video Game. I put “reality” in quotes up there because shows like that, too me, should be in a different category than, say, Flavor of Love or Tila Tequila or I Love Giving New York The Clap. There should be another sub-category for skill-based challenge/adventure shows with real people for prizes and/or jobs correlating to their skillset…Skill-Chall-Reali-Shows?
Of course that name would need work, but the point is I don’t like The Ultimate Fighter being seen the same as The Real World. One has fighters competing for a job as professional fighters and a lucrative contract to do such; the other has douchebags slutting around in a mansion for the grand prize of…being infamous as that douchebag slut from The Real World? Really, though, when it comes down to it, I want to be able to once again tell people I hate reality TV without feeling like a hypocrite when my DVR contains multiple episodes of American Gladiators and Man vs. Wild. Give them a different name so I can feel better about myself.
Oh, but what’s this? I seem to have gone off on a bit of a tangent there…how unlike me. I was talking about the reality video game, which made me think of some other shows that would do just as well in video game form, hence the glorious comic you see before you. As I said I love Hell’s Kitchen (even though that bitch Christina beat Patrozza
) but does it need to be a video game? And what’s worst, now it will simply be seen as a ripoff of Cooking Mama. A RIP-OFF of COOKING MAMA…not the legacy I’d want if I were Mr. Ramsey. Damn you, Fox, for making me give MTV some credit! At least they haven’t made The Real World/Road Rules Challenge Gauntlet Inferno OMGWTF 3 into a godawful video game yet.
Yet.
