A Clandestine Wii-ting, circa 2006 (by Greg)
Created by Strip Generator using a system of pulleys and fulcrum levers.
I may be late to the game, only recently purchasing my Wii from a friend of mine so I could glory in the splendor that is Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but I just HAD to comment on the absolutely inane way they’ve gone about their online solution! I know Nintendo hasn’t had an online console before, but they’re not RETARDED are they? They’ve done multiplayer games forever, they’ve had the DS doing things online for years, and they’re based in Japan, where you can get a Bluetooth toaster to call you when your waffles are golden brown! How could they have possibly believed that the way they’re currently doing things, with the Friend Codes and the subsequent 12-digit Smash Codes needing to be traded with a friend to even begin the process of trying to play online together, is even remotely acceptable?
And that is not even mentioning the abhorrent playability some people are experiencing when it comes to their system selling oft-delayed killer app SSBB. I FINALLY got a game to start using the With Anyone mode (since I have yet to get/give all the info from/to my friends to be able to play with them), and the lag was so bad as to render it unplayable (although I somehow still won…go Falco!) How is making online play with your friends a disastrous broken nightmare helping their console appeal to the masses? I understand the majority of Wii owners probably couldn’t care less about playing online, but that doesn’t mean they had to tell the rest of us to go to Hell.
Point being, Nintendo seriously dropped the ball when it came to online, and one can only hope they are in the midst of fixing things for when Mario Kart arrives shortly. As it stands now, I’d have a better time playing Smash Bros. with my buddies on a telephone conference call. Hell, it’s how I used to play Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Once again, pedophiles have ruined everything for all of us.
I wish I was making that up, but the friend code system is designed largely to prevent kids from running into the scary bad people on the big bad internets. The idea is that you only play with people you know, which is why Nintendo completely banned people from sharing friend codes back at the time that they still had official forums. Seriously, you could get banned from them for sharing friend codes, for the Wii or the DS.
I will admit they dropped the Goddamned ball on the Wii. Why not just let the Wii code serve as the single one-and-only code to make friends? At least then you only have one 16-digit code to pass around, and as annoying as that is, IT’S ONLY ONE CODE. Morons.
Oh, and about the DS - the DS uses friend codes as well. So yes, they are retarded, and have been for at least 3 years.
