Forwards from Phil: Jan. 29, 2008
January 29th, 2008 by PhilWell, today’s a fairly important day. No, not because the State of the Union was last night, though I’m sure more than a few people are sleeping off the hangover from the State of the Union Drinking Game (hey, at least Bush was good for something).
No, Smash is out in Japan. Or out really soon. I’m not sure. Which means the final character list will be out soon. I’ll post what I know at the end of this post, under a cut, so you only have to find out if you want to. (Of course, if you’re reading this on Facebook… you’ll just have to stop when you get near the end.)
Anyway, here’s the other stuff you might’ve missed.
- GameTap has a new columnist: Christian Cage.
What?!
- Jack Thompson causes Hell to freeze over by calling the whole Mass Effect uproar ridiculous. Now that’s odd. I figure he’d be the first to jump on the ‘zomg it’s teechin our kids to bang aliens!!!!!!!!1111oneone’ train. Apparently he’s too busy with his personal vendetta against Rockstar.
- The Cloverfield monster may have been an awkward fish-thing from the depths of the ocean, but let’s never forget the original awkward fish-thing from the depths of the ocean: Cthulhu. The Cloverfield monster didn’t make you go insane simply by looking on him, now did he?
And now Smash stuff. SPOILERS FOLLOW.
First off, here’s the intro video:
You may need to put it into fullscreen mode then come back out of it to get it all to display;the first time I played it, all I could see was the top-left corner.
The video definitely confirms the return of Marth and Ness, at least. A few people saw Captain Falcon in the video, but I haven’t seen him. I’m also seeing reports of Ganondorf being playable, conflicting reports on Lucario and Falco, and more. I’ll post a finalized character list as soon as I can find one.
UPDATE: Oh, there’s the captain. And Falco. And Lucario. Ridley as a boss, not too surprising… And a pretty convincing ‘Newcomer!’ screen for Game and Watch. … As well as a G&W stage. Okay, if these are G&W fakes, they’re a lot of work for G&W fakes.
Meanwhile, here’s a couple other pics: Bowser in this damn thing again, Ganondorf and King K. Rool.
