Oh hey, I knew I was forgetting something. First off: I went to see Cloverfield Saturday night. If you are not prone to motion sickness, you should go see it. If you are prone to motion sickness, run the hell away. It’s pretty good.

Anyway, here’s what else you missed while you were getting annihilated this weekend. Don’t look at me like that, I know you were. Seriously, you need help.

got a little too much cap’n in meh

- Gamasutra has a chat with the guy who invented Tetris, Alexey Pajitnov. Is it bad that I can spell Pajitnov without looking at the article to make sure I got it right?

- Whoops: Nintendo accidentally reveals three unannounced characters for Smash. Namely, Ness, Lucario, and Jigglypuff. Hooray! The return of the totally improbable Sleep Smash!

- Decent week in games: probably the first one that’s not complete garbage. Namely, No More Heroes, and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. And, if you hate life, there’s Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the DS. Just to hold myself over till Smash, I suppose, but I may be passing on NMH simply because I’m still playing Mass Effect.

- How to figure people out. This article was largely tl; dr for me, but who knows, you might find something to like.

- iPod Touch users have to pay $20 for their new 5 app upgrade. Wonder why? Answer: “The short story for those who got to class late is Apple must charge for substantial enhancements to products that do not have revenue recognized on a subscription basis or it has to restate prior earnings. The iPod touch does not have revenue recognized on a subscription basis. The iPhone does. As does the Apple TV. Hence, they get free updates and the iPod touch does not.” Accounting ftw? This whole thing happened a while ago, when every computer had to pay a nominal fee to get the 802.11n wireless upgrade, because Apple added it to every single one of their computers after-the-fact - so they had to charge for the upgrade, or restate their earnings on every. single. computer.

- We are, as of the writing of this post, the 5th result in Google for ‘american gladiators drinking game’. If you put it in quotes, we’re fourth! Internet fame, here we come.
